Reading supplement labels, evidence and marketing

Short pieces on the skills that make any supplement decision better: reading a label, choosing a trial length, checking interactions, and telling a real account from a manufactured one.

Why a journal on a single-product site

Most of this site answers questions about one supplement. These pieces answer the questions underneath that: how to read a label you have never seen before, how long to run a trial, how to check a new bottle against your prescriptions, and how to tell a real customer account from a written one. Those skills outlast any particular product, and they are the reason our evidence page reaches the conclusion it does.

Nothing here is medical advice and nothing here is a shortcut around asking a pharmacist. What these articles do is make that conversation shorter and better informed, because you will arrive knowing which ingredient you are worried about and why.

The four skills, in order of usefulness

  1. Checking interactions before you buy.The highest-value five minutes in this entire subject, and the one people skip. Almost all preventable supplement harm is interaction harm.
  2. Reading a proprietary blend.Three lines of arithmetic tell you whether a formula can possibly contain the doses its marketing implies. It usually cannot.
  3. Choosing a trial length deliberately.Match it to the mechanism and to the refund window, not to your patience. This is what turns a purchase into an experiment.
  4. Discounting testimonials properly. They are the weakest evidence and the strongest persuasion, which is exactly why they are on every sales page ever written.
